Five Favorites: Hot Ways to Cool Off

by cheapchica11 on June 19, 2013

1. There’s nothing chicer than a simple make up look with a bold lip…try this coral crayon in Zinfandel from Bite for major impact!

2. I’m a southern girl so I can’t survive a summer without sweet tea — this system from Tea Forte makes tea that tastes as good as it looks!

3. If you’re dealing with oily skin this season, battle it naturally with a cleanser that has willow bark extracts like this one from Boots Botanics that has easily become my nightly go-to!

4. Whether you call them sno-cones or sno-balls they all taste like Summer! After trying one at Imperial Woodpecker Snoballs, I’m buying one of these so I can make them at home! And this may sound crazy, but add a little condensed milk to the top for an amazing icy treat!

5.  Upgrade your flip-flips to a pair of Tkees this summer! The only problem with these – choosing just one! I’m growing my collection by the day!

Daily Deal: Mara Hoffman’s Boho-Friendly Bikini

by Robin Reetz on June 18, 2013

Here at CheapChicas, we love Mara Hoffman. The New York-based designer is known for her color mix of bohomenian sensibility and geometric prints.

Mara’s pieces are usually a little out of our price range and we understand – this is some high quality stuff!

Luckily she’s got a great sale section, and that’s where we come in.  We found this lovely Macramé Bikini down to $73.15 – downright manageable, especially considering it was originally priced at $209.

Our favorite thing about this piece is that it maintains some of Mara’s boho-sensibilities by way of crochet detailing while still keeping it classic with black.

This swimsuit is still available in XS, S, M, and L. If you happen to be a size XS or M and prefer this style in another color, there’s an equally-priced olive option still available.

Alber Elbaz for Lancôme Launches Today!

by Robin Reetz on June 18, 2013

Always been a fan of Alber Elbaz and Lanvin, but never been able to afford anything? Yep, us too. Luckily, we’ve found a way to score a bit of the upscale brand on the cheap.

Starting today (today!) Lancôme is launching a limited edition makeup collection that was designed in collaboration with Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz.

The collection focuses on eyes, and includes the Hypnose Doll Lashes, Hynpose Star, Hypnose Drama and Defincils Mascara, for $29 each. The eye shadow palettes include their own take on Doll Lashes, Star, Drama, and Defincils, with each focusing on a variety of different shades, and all pricced at $51 each.

Lucky enough to find yourself in NYC? Make sure you stop by Lord & Taylor’s Fifth Avenue flagship tonight at 5:30pm. On hand will be superstar stylist Natalie Joos who’s set to host a makeup show styled by Lancôme makeup artists. Color us jealous!

So, which product will you choose – the mascara, the eye palettes, or both?

Daily Deal: Ked’s Summer-Worthy Sneakers

by Robin Reetz on June 17, 2013

When it comes to classics, you can’t really beat Keds. These perfect sneakers have been outfitting our feet since 1916. We may not go back that far, but certainly remember the grass stained, white lace-ups we never took off as kids.

Keds has grown up with us and now offers some pretty stylish choices. Aside from the standard lace-ups, they now offers slip-ons, high-tops and ballet flats, all in a variety of colors and patterns – and did we mention they also sell clothing?

At a full-price of around $50 for a pair of lace-ups, Keds are in our price range and we can always make room for another pair. But add an additional discount and well, we won’t say no!

Our faves are these sweet Champion Florals ($34.95, down from $45), the Double Dutch Dot ($29.95 from $50), and the summer-ready neon Rookies ($29.95 from $50). Another bonus? Standard shipping is always free for any order over $10.

Our biggest problem? Choosing just one pair to purchase.

Look for Less: Super-Chic PJ’s

by Robin Reetz on June 16, 2013

The warm weather has (finally) brought us out of the fleece pajama cave we’ve basically been living in since last fall. Shedding our snuggies has got us thinking about improving our bedtime wares.

Whether it’s a chic slip of a nighty, menswear-inspired PJs, or the classic boxer + tee combo, here’s our roundup of the chicest ways to catch up on your beauty sleep this summer.

This vintage short-sleeve set from J. Crew takes traditional PJs to the next level. We’re torn between the sweet pink pair or classic blue.

Forever21’s rose print robe is both chic and cheap at only $18.80.

Nothing beats Eberjey when it comes to comfort and style. Try out their Bardot ¾ Sleeve Chemise and you’ll be a fan for life.

We’re obsessed with Sleepy Jones, the new loungewear line launched by (who else?) Kate Spade’s husband, Andy. Check out their menswear-inspired Tauba Shorts and you’ll understand why.

Victoria’s Secret gets sweet with their $34.50 eyelet lace babydoll.

Sweet dreams!
