Deal of the Week: Need a Tee?

by cheapchica11 on July 22, 2010

My number one obsession isn’t heels or bags right now…it’s T-shirts! In my opinion there is nothing like that perfect tee that makes you feel comfortable and still has that laid back sexy look.

The funny thing is- something as simple as a great t-shirt is not as easy to come by as most might think! One of my bigger problems is that when I find the perfect tee (James Perse I’m talking to you!) it’s usually close to $100 (if not more) simply because it’s got a designer label attached to it! :(

Well today is my (and now your) lucky day if you’ve been in search of the perfect inexpensive tee!! Target has the most comfortable V-neck tee I have found yet, and it’s only $8!!! There are only 3 colors available online, but for a more extensive color selection you can check in your local Target. Either way, my advice is to stock up.

Styling Tips: One of my favorite ways to wear this…pair any v-neck tee with a black bandage skirt and flat sandals for day–then dress it up with heels/sandals for a perfect night outfit!

Just Enough Ruffles…

by cheapchica11 on July 19, 2010

When I saw this tank on jcrew.com I knew it was for me. I like ruffles, but I like subtle ruffles.

I buy tons of tank tops, but most of them tend to be on the simple side.

What I liked about this tank is that it has one detailed row of loose ruffles right down the center that dresses it up just enough without being overwhelming. Plus it’s not skin tight, which makes it a perfect, breezy summer piece.

It comes in 6 colors, but my favorites are the cement and the bronzed clay – colors that are right on trend for the summer!  This tank can be paired with a pair of loose khaki’s and wedges for a daytime look and can easily transition to a nighttime look by adding a pair of dark denim jeans and a few accessories. At $29.50 this is an amazing summer steal!

The F.A.B. Report: Leather-Trimmed Canvas Bags

by cheapchica11 on July 3, 2010

I am obsessed!

I really do love with this two-toned look that is everywhere now thanks the heavy safari influence this summer, and the fact that canvas is involved means it’s a trend that’s pretty affordable too!

I think we can all agree that paying $198.00 for this Cole Haan stunner to the left is… not that realistic…

But never fear, I’ve found a variety of budget-friendly options, including this adorable tote from Urban Outfitters below, for only $58.00!

I also love how this look is at the same time trendy and functional

And I must say, this is certainly a great summer bag that you can transition from work to play, especially considering it’s a cross-body!

I even found a few smaller options that are well below $50.00

There really is a range of options out there…

… and I can picture them all paired up perfectly with white jeans and a soft tee

… definitely brown sandals and some bangles. Oh man… it really is the ideal compliment to almost any summer outfit!

Vintage Point: Brown Cross-Body Bag

by cheapchica11 on June 24, 2010

Am I alone… or do  brown (more specifically, camel or even a cognac color) cross-body bags seem to be slung across everyone’s shoulder? I feel like this look has dominated the Summer musical festival scene and of course the streets of Hollywood!

I love this picture of Sienna Miller-she does that whole effortlessly chic, sometimes a little disheveled thing oh so well–carrying one.  She’s got it over her shoulder but most of these bags come with adjustable shoulder straps so you get the option of carrying it both ways!

It’s so funny, because five years ago, I would have never thought to buy one of these, but now all I can think about is where to get one…

And I think going vintage is definitely the answer. It’s true that this style of bag has never really gone completely out of style, but it seems to have been pretty big in the 60s and 70s, and I’ve seen a lot of them in vintage stores and online

I really love this one pictured from Etsy: all leather, in great condition, and for only $21.00 you really can’t go wrong… and the fringe makes it oh so summer fab!

I also really like the simplicity of this other one (again, Etsy!)– it’s genuine leather as well, and goes for only $22.00…!

This really is a trendy and practical look for everything from a summer concert to a night out with friends… and vintage makes it so affordable so don’t spend big bucks on these.  Save yourself some money and try to find one at your local flea market or thrift shop–and as a bonus, it comes with that beat up/worn-in look that makes the bag even better!

Look for Less: Helmut Lang Crochet-Back Dress

by cheapchica11 on June 20, 2010

HELMUT

I’m seeing crochet everywhere!

What could be more feminine and summer-y?

Plus, there’s nothing sexier than juuust enough skin peeking out from under a chic, black dress…

Or at least that’s exactly what went through my mind when I stumbled across this gorgeous Helmut Lang piece, which sells for ohhhhhh…. $405.00. Sigh.

However, as I’ve discovered, there are more than a few budget-friendly options lurking out there online, I’ve gotten you started below…

These items will bring about the same chic, eye-catching effect, and you can find them all for under $50.00… !

Picture 1

I especially love this looker on the right, sold at Urban Outfitters from brand Silence and Noise

… and which, might I add, is now on sale for only $29.99!

If this style tickles your fancy, I’d act quickly… this really is an incredible price to pay for a dress that looks pretty expensive!

Just picture yourself in a black crochet dress… out on the town, paired up with a nude heel, your hair pulled back in a soft chignon

Dang, girl, you look good!

The F.A.B. Report: Tribal-Inspired Sandals

by cheapchica11 on June 17, 2010

Literally from head to toe, I’ve been spotting tribal and/or ethnic-inspired accents around town more than ever…

While tribal statement necklaces are a very hot summer item, I think that the tribal sandal (in a variety of forms, fringe is just the tip of the iceberg!) is by far the most popular manifestation of this trend, and it is certainly one the most accessible at a variety of price points… which is good news for us!

I snagged several pairs for you below (including this pair from Old Navy for only $19.50), all for well under $50.00, and all that are very cute.

I like them because they are not too over-the-top and that they really will be the perfect accent to compliment your chic summer whites.
