The F.A.B. Report: Lace-Up Oxfords

by cheapchica11 on February 4, 2010

Picture 2Well, we all knew it would happen: the menswear mega trend has spilled over into footwear…

I present to you one of the most fashion-forward trends below the waist since OKN boots: lace-up oxfords. For women. The problem?

They’re kind of… expensive! Even Christian Louboutin has gotten in on the action with this sparkly pair! A lot of the one’s I’ve seen have all gone for over 100 dollars, sometimes verging on twice that (coughJ.Crew), which can be… kind of off-putting.

And let’s be honest, trends are transient…

Picture 67Lately though, I’ve noticed that as the trend has become more popular, more affordable versions are now trickling into the market, including the NEON ones above from Jeffrey Campbell for $74.00!  (take a peek below at some fabulous options, all well under $100.00 and most under $70.00).

If you’re not quite daring enough to sport the oxfords in an unusual material like Olivia Palermo’s fabulous silver metallic pair, you can settle for patent leather or a solid, bold color… all of which I think would look adorable with a flow-y printed miniskirt of some sort.

If not a skirt, go for a pair of short shorts in a classic cut. Or, you can rock a skinny jean with a loose (floral print!) top. It’s comfy and stylish.

Let me put it this way: how often does a comfortable shoe trend you can easily walk in come around?

Just always remember one thing: including a feminine aspect in your look to balance out this masculine piece is key!

Look for Less: Olivia Palermo

by cheapchica11 on October 26, 2009

I might have a girl-crush on Olivia this season. She’s totally killing her outfits on The City and she hasn’t worn anything that doesn’t make me go “I want that” at least five times during the episode.

What’s also amazing about her is that she totally gets how to do casual-chic. She always looks fashionable and put together (even just walking down the street) but not so much so that it looks like she was trying to hard.

This white blazer look is too cute and you don’t have to have a socialites bank account to get it in your closet!!
