Rack to Reality: Old Navy Tiered Tank

by Monica on May 30, 2011

Old Navy Tiered-Hem Chiffon Tanks: $19.50 each

Click it/Skip it: Click it!!

This is one of my favorite items that I’ve found at Old Navy in a long time. This top comes in 5 different colors…prints and solids. The simple cut and chiffon fabric makes it amazingly versatile and I want it in every color now!

Fit: This top runs true to size. Its loose and feminine, and the A-line cut will look great on any body type.  Also, the ruffles at the bottom flare out a bit to add some interest…such a cute detail.

The top is double layered and the under layer can be removed if you want to work the sheer trend!

While I am obsessed with the orange and yellow for summer, the green is will transition perfectly for a layered look in the fall.

Shopper’s Notes: It is Old Navy, so the top is made of polyester. However, its not itchy or heavy and its still the perfect top to throw on and go. It can work for almost any occasion and looks good tucked in or free-flowing. Layer it under a cardigan or blazer for work or pair with shorts for a casual hot summer day!

Rack To Reality: Old Navy Yoga Pants

by Monica on January 29, 2011

Click it/Skip it: Mostly, Skip it

Old Navy has been running commercials for their $12 yoga pants continuously, so I finally gave in and went to try them out for myself. They have a full selection of shorts, different cuts of yoga pants, sweatshirts and active tops. While I was mostly disappointed by the selection in my store, I ended up buying their basic fold-over yoga pant mainly out of necessity and because they were only $12 bucks!

Fit: All of the options fit true to size and are offered in petite, tall, and plus size which is fantastic! They are soft and stretchy but my main complaint was just that. The pants are too stretchy and they’ve now stretched out too quickly after just a few wears.

I prefer my yoga pants to be a bit on the tight side, so they don’t move while I’m exercising and so that they hold me in.  My Lululemon groove pants do a fantastic job of this, but I’m guessing that’s why they cost almost 7x as much…whatever material they’re using has to be pretty expensive!

Old Navy offered two other styles–a gaucho style pant which is something you want to steer clear of and a wide leg pant which had very unflattering and unpractical pockets.  They both had me saying “skip it” as soon as I pulled them on.

Shopper’s Notes: While I will definitely use my fold over pair for lounging, I won’t be using them at the gym.  This “active-wear” seems to be better suited for a very casual active lifestyle or laying around the house and while the price is right, it’s not up to par with my other go-to workout favorites from Nike, Lululemon, and Gapbody.

Save 30% at Gap, Old Navy and BR

by cheapchica11 on November 12, 2010

I’ve been obsessing over this Sherpa moto-sweater that Lauren Bush is wearing ever since I saw the GAP Holiday lookbook

and now I can save about $40 dollars on it!  From November 11-14th Gap and Teach For America are running their “Give & Get” program which let’s you save 30% at all Gap, Old Navy and Banana Republic stores…you can even use the coupon at their outlet stores as well!

I’m really loving all of the stylishly warm pieces at Gap this season (not so much past seasons) like this cute cape, this sequin skirt and this outrageous fur hat– I’m very impressed with the overall campaign and the styling is dead on…no one wants to freeze in the freezing temperatures but we don’t want to look like marshmallow women under all that bulk either!

I plan on making very good use of my coupon…what will you be buying this weekend?? Click here to access the coupon!

Deal of the Week: Old Navy Cargos

by cheapchica11 on October 25, 2010

Finally! That’s all I can say…

Since the highly coveted J Brand Houlihan Cargos came out and were subsequently spotted on every starlet in Hollywood, everyone I know has been dying for them, including me!  I talked about them so much that my hubby got tired of hearing about them and very generously surprised me with a pair!

I would never spend that much on a pair of pants but since I do have them, I can now say that they would be a great investment-if there weren’t any alternatives…like these Citizen Cargos from Old Navy.  My cost per wear on the Houlihans has been about $2/wear…I seriously wear them ALL the time…dressy to casual and everything in-between!

So now let’s go to the Old Navy version.  They come in Forest and Taupe and in sizes 0-20…and the best part, right now they’re on sale in store for only $19!! I love my J Brands to death, but since I obviously can’t afford another pair, the Old Navy ones have come to my rescue!

I’ve looked high and lo for a budget-friendly version and these are by far the best I’ve seen anywhere.  The material on these and the Forest color is almost identical of the J Brand Vintage Westpoint.  These pants are soft, comfortable and they will be a very welcome update to all the denim you have in your closet.

And please be sure to shop in-store for these.  A lot of the sizes are sold out online but my local Old Navy had plenty of stock in all sizes and colors!!

Fall’s (new) Favorites by Old Navy

by cheapchica11 on September 28, 2010

It’s time to accept the inevitable fact: October is almost here, there’s a chill in the air, and it’s time to cope with your cold-weather fate. Say what you will, but we all secretly have a soft spot for cool-weather clothing. What girl doesn’t love the perfect fitting pant and a snuggly sweater to wrap yourself up in?

That being said, the prices of all of those oversized sweaters can give you oversized anxiety faster than you can say, “Heavy-duty moisturizer.” Winter clothes are heftier and therefore pricier, right?

Wrong! Our old pal, Old Navy, has come to the rescue and satisfied our stingy adult taste. Besides the Old Navy classics – tried and true button-ups, skinny jeans, and sweaters made for layering – our favorite for-the-whole-family shop also had enough trendy styles to satisfy even the choosiest fashionista.

These adorable Cuffed Cord Shorts in Forest are perfect for now-ish, when the weather doesn’t seem to know what it’s doing and neither do you, wardrobe-wise. Once things cool down, pair your new Cord Shorts with a tee, boyfriend blazer, and sheer tights.

When the snow starts falling, grab these pups, your warmest wool tights, and your new Double-Buckle Boots which are, incredibly, under $40. You’ll stave off even the coldest of weather, and put your motorcycle-chic self into gear. Oh, and the Cord Shorts? Yeah, those are $24.50.

Need a bag where you can stash all of that money you saved? Old Navy has come to the rescue once again with this super cute Canvas Bucket Bag. We wouldn’t have argued with the $19.50 original price tag, but this Bucket beaut is now only $12 – a price that we just can’t say no to.

The F.A.B. Report: Tribal-Inspired Sandals

by cheapchica11 on June 17, 2010

Literally from head to toe, I’ve been spotting tribal and/or ethnic-inspired accents around town more than ever…

While tribal statement necklaces are a very hot summer item, I think that the tribal sandal (in a variety of forms, fringe is just the tip of the iceberg!) is by far the most popular manifestation of this trend, and it is certainly one the most accessible at a variety of price points… which is good news for us!

I snagged several pairs for you below (including this pair from Old Navy for only $19.50), all for well under $50.00, and all that are very cute.

I like them because they are not too over-the-top and that they really will be the perfect accent to compliment your chic summer whites.

The Return of Ruffles

by cheapchica11 on March 31, 2010

Picture 2One of the most popular posts (ever) written on this blog was about a bikini…last year Victoria’s Secret came out with the cutest ruffled bikini top and I swear I still get emails about where to find one just like it.

Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to locate it since–even after countless emails to VS about bringing that style back–but luckily for all of you ruffles are one of the biggest trends for the Spring/Summer and Old Navy has picked up on it!

They debuted the most adorable ruffle bikinis (only $16.50) in February with their first swimwear collection, but they sold out almost immediately, until now!  These ruffled bandeaus come in delicious colors like Blue Bonnet (bottom) and Peach Flambe (top) and they’re perfect for your upcoming vacation!  I think they’re so much cuter than just your regular triangle top–not to mention way more unique!

And for those of us that are not blessed in the chest department, the ruffles help add the illusion of a more voluptuous top!  Click here to buy!

PS: Don’t forget to mix and match your bikini separates–matchy matchy is totally out!

Deal of The Week: Flip Flops

by cheapchica11 on March 23, 2010

Picture 1When it comes to shopping, great deals are the only thing I look for. When I came across this amazing deal last week I realized summer was right around the corner!

Old Navy never disappoints when it comes to their 2 for $5.00 flip flops. Not only is the price jaw dropping but so is the variety. You can get these must-haves in stripes, exotic prints or even your basic solids! This is one deal you won’t find anywhere else!

Baby it’s cold outside…

by cheapchica11 on November 14, 2009

pROXY1-4096905t382x444and all I want to do is cozy up in some soft, comfy knits and watch bad reality TV.

The weather in Philly is horrible–rain for days–so it’s not helping put me in my most fashionable mood in the AM when I’m getting dressed!

Lucky for me, the great thing about the winter in the Northeast is that you can get away with wearing leggings and a long sleeve tee pretty much every day!

The only rule I have is that you top it off with a chic knit sweater and some stylish flat boots—and by flat boots, I DO NOT mean Uggs!  This way you’re warm and dressed for the elements, but not sloppy.

Here are some cute and more imporatnly, comfy sweaters that can help get you through those dreary cold days when you don’t have the energy to get dressed but still want to look stylish!
