Rack to Reality: Lulu’s Bat Your Lashes Dress

by Monica on February 3, 2011

Lulu’s Bat Your Lashes Dress: $32.00

Click it/Skip it: Click it!

Lulu’s has a ton of super cute and trendy dresses, but I love this one shoulder number! It comes in a ton of colors and its so easy to wear.

Fit: This dress comes in small, medium, and large and fit true to size. The length is also true to the picture…but now that I have it in person, it might be more appropriate for non-conservative occasion.

The one shoulder is sexy without being revealing. Usually, I steer clear of one shoulder dresses, because I have a large bust and its not the most flattering cut on me. However, the flowing cut of this dress makes it universally flattering.

Shopper’s Notes: The dress comes in 6 color choices. I love the navy, because it looks chic with gold accessories and can work in the summer and fall/winter. The color makes it a great alternative to the classic LBD. I might pick up a second one in blush…once I work on my tan.

Deal of the Week: La La Love

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, this romantic  dress from Lulu’s makes its debut!  I saw an almost identical version at South Moon Under a few weeks ago, but the price tag had three digits and that’s a Cheap Chica no-no.  This one-shoulder, Grecian inspired version is only $33.00 and it comes in your choice of White, Coral or even black!

Studs & Leather…What Could Be Better?

I tried a jacket almost identical to this one not to long ago at Intermix in Atlanta, but the price tag nearly caused me to faint (and probably cause a scene) in the middle of the store!

Lulu’s just added this “animal-friendly” version to their already amazing Fall line up and at only $70 this time, I don’t think I can resist…

Faux Fuurrr Baby!

by cheapchica11 on September 3, 2009

newBBDj31266I don’t know about you, but I despise being cold in the winter.  So when I stumbled across this outrageously chic faux fur vest for $60, I fell immediately in love.

I envisioned this fabulous girl strutting down the street in a plain boyfriend t-shirt, this brown fur vest, skinny jeans, hair blowing in the wind, absurdly large shades, and rocking stilettos…totally a RZ moment!

I would suggest that you wear this vest casually as a day look though.  But feel free to experiment the vest too! Try it over a cute dress with tights…the important thing is to make it your own and have fun with this retro look!

Some stores always get it right!  Whether you’re looking for a carry-all tote for the office or a fabulous back to school bag that will hold your laptop, this purple Apprentice Bag from LuLu’s will suit all of your needs!

And it’s like having two bags in one…carry it by the handles or simply fold the top of this versatile handbag over and you have an urban chic saddle bag!  It’s got all the style of a big ticket handbag and it will surely make a statement on your shoulder, but you won’t have to break the bank to get it!  This lovely purse will only set you back $44 and with two great options to wear it it’s like getting one bag for free!

DIY: The Ruffled Way

by cheapchica11 on June 20, 2009

I  love amazing looking shoes and when I happen to find these metallic pearl flats, I fell in love with them immediately.

The only thing holding me back from purchasing these one of a kind Lulu flats is that they retail for $96…which is completely out of my budget these days. So instead I decided that this was a project I could definitely take on! Here’s how…

After searching high and low I came across these ruffled flats from Go Jane that retailed for only $17.50 and figured that the only other things I needed to DIY these babies was a hot glue gun and a pack of pearl beads that I found at Joann’s Fabric on sale for $1.39!

After glueing on the pearls and letting them dry I managed to save over $70 by doing these myself and they look GREAT!  I couldn’t believe that I got this look for so much less! And what better way to end my project by going out and showing them off! Don’t you agree?

Just Because….

Us girls sometimes need a little pick-me-up every now and then!

I absolutely adore this flapper style dress and I think it’s the perfect blend of vintage and sexy!

It’s from one of my favorite online stores, Lulu’s, so you know the quality will be fantastic and the price will be totally budget friendly…$54 to be exact!  I don’t have a special occasion to wear it to, so I might just have to make one up for it.

I also have to point out that if you’re picking this dress up for an outdoor event, it will keep you nice and cool because the soft chiffon is super light weight and the cut of the dress moves away from the body.  But be careful if you’re wearing this to a wedding…you might just look prettier than the bride!!

Blue & Cream

…happens to be the name of a very pricey and exclusive boutique in the Hamptons that would retail a dress like this one for $500, but in this case I’m using it to describe the eye-catching color-block combo in this adorable dress! I love the high-waist and the ruffle detail on the top are perfectly on trend for this Spring season!  This is the exact kind of dress that I always need, but can never find…until now!

Click here to buy it for less than $50 and with all the money you’re saving, you can afford to pick up the shoes featured in the “Best Buys” section…they’ll make for the perfect pair!
