Spring is fast approaching and shorts are sure to be the favorite of the season. We’ve been featuring all kinds of of shorts on the blog recently so that you can pick your spring staple, but for now, I’m kind of on the fence about suede shorts…
A favorite of fashion risk takers (like Sienna Miller), trendy stores like H&M (featured left) and BCBG have been incorporating suede shorts into their spring lines.
If you’re tired of your boring and basic shorts, these are the perfect way to mix up your look! Start by pairing them with a soft, feminine blouse to keep the look modern. Look for shirts in silky, soft fabrics like this one that will lend a nice contrast to the structure of the shorts. And stay away from tops that are too tight or cropped.
At first, I thought I’d only like a super simple version of these, with very clean lines, but then I found this cargo pair from Free people and I’m kind of in LOVE! I just need to visit them in person to make sure the suede is super-thin and light…
So are you willing to try this trend? For the cheapest options check out your local H&M, otherwise there’s a few places online where you can snag your own pair…

H&M Spring/Summer 2011 is really inspiring me to go on a shopping spree. This spring’s collection is all about the groovy eras of the 60s/70s. Some of the highlights of the collection…a ton of color (like pink, poppy, orange), funky prints, color blocking, and bohemian silhouettes.
So what will I be grabbing?? I’m going to start my spree with shift dresses, camel blazers, and anything and everything printed! And perhaps the best part of this collection is the price…I love that H&M is featuring so many high fashion inspired pieces at such an affordable cost.
This entire collection is definitely CheapChica approved…for example, this boldly printed dress is just $69.95 and the color blocked heels are $79.95. As always everything is affordable, maxi dresses will be priced around $60-$70, blazers for as low as $34.95 and pick up a pair of classic cropped trousers in black for $60!!!
Check out the whole collection here…but save some room for these pieces in your spring shopping! Some pieces are in stores now but the full collection won’t be available until mid-April.

Many of you emailed and commented on the segment wanting to know the breakdown of the “budget” outfits and also my outfit…so here are all the details:
BUDGET LOOK: KIM KARDASHIAN
Pleather Jacket: Nicole by Nicole Miller, JC Penney
T-Shirt: Divided, H&M
Jeans: Charlotte Russe
Shoes: Charlotte Russe
Handbag: Forever 21
Sunglasses: Forever 21
BUDGET LOOK: JENNIFER ANNISTON
Blazer: H&M
Sequin Dress: Buffalo Exchange
Shoes: Aldo
Jewelry: Forever 21
Now as for my outfit, I was in head to toe H&M! The blazer is a tangerine color (it was also featured in the February issue of Lucky) and the dress I wore under it was navy blue and it had navy chiffon flowers all over it (very Marc Jacobs!) but you couldn’t see them on TV! Both items are in stores now…THANK YOU so much for watching!!

Lux, Lux, Lux….Faux, Faux, Faux!!! Some people might think that these two words don’t belong in the same sentence, but I say bring on the Luxurious Faux Fur!
Thanks to stores like H&M and Forever 21, fashion has become more accessible to anyone who wants it so those of us without celebrity paychecks or six figure salaries can still dress in the top trends of the season without maxing out out credit cards!
Considering that I fall into the less than loaded category of consumer, you can imagine my pure joy last Fall when H&M came out with their affordable Faux Furs. At the time, I wanted it all but I wasn’t sure if I was ready to go all out in fur, so I stuck with a few small accessory pieces.
But after seeing Karl Lagerfeld cover the Chanel models in head to toe faux fur I think I’m ready for more and the fur vest is the perfect addition to anyone’s wardrobe!
Thankfully, a faux fur vest is not as intense as a full fur coat so you’ll be able to wear the fur trend without feeling like you’re overdoing it. Try the vest with a floral print blouse and a pair of wide legged jeans for a 70’s inspired vibe or you can go glam and pair your vest with a mini dress and heels for a night out…and if you’re worried about getting lost under your new furry friend, you can also throw a belt around the vest to give it a little shape!

I have been dying to share something with yall since June and now I finally can!!
Earlier this summer the fabulous Karen Blanchard of wheredidugethtat.com (follow her on Twitter: @KarenBritChick) and myself were asked to be a part of an H&M spread in the September issue of ELLE magazine–with JULIA ROBERTS on the cover! To say that I was shocked and totally honored to be asked is a total understatement! Even having the issue in my hands today-I’m still in total disbelief!
We spent the day “modeling” (I will never refer to myself as an model…you have to be taller than 5′0″ for that!) and playing dress up in H&M’s new Fall collection and it was seriously a dream come true. Everyone from ELLE was incredible to work with (Eddie and Rebecca, y’all are THE best!)–and the entire team from H&M made me feel so welcome!
Now let’s get to the the clothes…we shot three looks and the first one was my favorite! It’s the one that ended up in the magazine (pictured right)! All of the clothes perfectly suited my style and y’all are going to LOVE the entire Fall collection!
Here’s what I’m wearing: Cobalt Blazer, $32; Ruffle Blouse; Bow Skirt $29; and Fold-Over Boots. I’m missing prices on two things, but everything on set that day was under $99…God I love H&M! I’m pretty sure everything I wore is in-stores now and I can’t wait to mix and match these pieces with my wardrobe!
I’m so excited to share this with all of you and look out for some very cool behind-the-scenes and trend videos to come later this week! And if you want to see some bonus pics from the shoot just click here… [click to continue...]

UPDATE: Many of you have asked where I was able to find these two pieces…I bought them in LA at the H&M in the Beverly Center–they put the items out 3/24 and were sold out of the smaller sizes in under 30 minutes. As far as I know, Philly ONLY has a sampling of the collection while NYC and LA have the COMPLETE collection. If you can’t find them in your local store, try EBAY–I found both of the items pictured above! Click here!
In case you forgot, The Garden Collection is officially in all H&M stores as of last week, but get there fast–the items are sooooo cute and amazingly priced so they’re selling out fast. I bought the two dresses pictured above + the red one in Ivory for a grand total of $100 bucks! I can’t tell you how unbelievably GORGEOUS the one of the left is…I love it so much, I want to wear it around the house!!

After one too many hit or miss seasons, H&M has turned up the heat (and hired some very talented new designers) with their latest and appropriately titled, The Garden Collection. Aside from featuring various takes on floral prints (the watercolor ones are amazing), all of the garments have been produced using sustainable materials or using recycled PET bottles making them a truly green fashion statement.
I for one am buying every single piece above…seriously. And if my husband is reading, I’m budgeting for this, so don’t worry! While some prices have been way too high (hello Jimmy Choo for H&M) at the store recently, everything I featured and most of the entire collection will be priced for less than $50 and it hits store shelves at the end of March.
Where in world are you going to get dresses this fabulous and feminine for that price? Let’s just hope all H&M stores get the same delivery or I’m going to have to start stalking the flagships in NYC to get my hands on these precious pieces! Thank you H&M for giving us something beautiful and vibrant to daydream about during this horribly cold and grey winter!

I saw this picture in September’s Marie Claire and I just couldn’t get it out of my head! Everything about the look was dead on and I immediately decided that I need a fur vest at whatever cost…and now so do you!
Lucky for us, the vest in this very spread is from H&M and it retails for only $59.95. Now before yall get upset and email me that you don’t have an H&M in your city, be patient…I’ve rounded up the best in faux fur under $100 that the web has to offer!
But before we get to that, I have to share my new obsession which also happens to be from H&M and also happens to
include some faux fur! I got it two days ago and have managed to wear it every day since…I don’t care if it “goes”! I love it and I’m wearing as many times as I can…this is going to be my fall/winter staple!
Any of the options below would add some serious style points to your outfit and thank goodness the days of bad faux fur are way behind us. The new faux is luxurious and looks just as nice as the real thing…without the price!

While this won’t hit the US until November 14th, here’s a preview of all the Jimmy Choo goodness you can expect to hit the stores just in time for the Holiday season!
But don’t get too excited just yet…those prices in the pics are in pounds with the current exchange rate, that makes the one shoulder dress approximately $247 and those seriously fierce cut-out sandals costs about $132. Hardly CheapChica prices but considering a pair of Choo’s runs $800 and up it’s not exactly steep!
So what do you think? Will you fork over this kind of cash for some Jimmy Choo love?!?
