No matter which look you are going for 20’s flapper or 90’s grunge, there is a Hat out there for everyone. The key is to find the right one for your head, hair, and style. Hats do more than just cover up a bad hair day, they can set off a certain kind of confidence in a person.
There are so many inexpensive choices out there that will enhance your wardrobe. The best part is they can go with multiple outfits, which means you get your moneys worth. A hat can transform a good outfit into a great all around eye catching look. My favorite hats of the moment are anything Fur of course, and the cloche. With the roaring twenties coming back in full swing there is nothing more Gatsby that a Cloche Hat.
If you are a dedicated hat person it might be worth putting the money towards having a milliner make you a hat, but if you’re a girl who loves to follow the hat trends but doesn’t have a ton of money stick with ASOS, Urban Outfitters, and Forever 21 for now. Try out all the choices from Classic to Comfy: felt cloche, snap-brim fedora, slouchy felt gaucho, Panaima, aviator/hunter cap, turban, fur, beret, and knits in all shapes and sizes. Be Bold and try one on!

No two names could make me happier, and when you put them together I just get giddy!
Jessica Stam is my favorite model, one of the reasons being she’s not just in the pages of Vogue, she is also in campaigns for Aldo and H&M.
Rachel Roy is one of my favorite designers. She really understands how real women want to dress: fashionably but realistic. I’m already so grateful to Rachel for collaborating with Macy’s to create the reasonably priced and extremely beautiful line Rachel Rachel Roy, but adding Jessica Stam to the bill has made me ecstatic!!
Jessica Stam and Rachel Roy have collaborated on a small 4 piece collection for the Rachel Rachel Roy collection available at Macy’s. This is a limited time collection so you must act fast!
The official launch is later this month, but if you go to the Rachel Roy website you can pre-order the pieces now.
The four pieces come together to create the perfect outfit, all worthy of Jessica Stam! The first piece is my favorite The Stam Cardi, at $99 it’s not cheap but it’s totally worth it because you can wear it with everything dressed up or down.
Next is The Stam Pant $89, black super stretch skinny jean that are super edgy and sleek all at the same time. Then of course we need accessories to finish every look, The Stam Belt $49 and The Stam Bucket Bag $199, which I am completely in love with! The bucket bag is definitely going to be the new must have bag of the season.
The idea behind only having these four pieces is to buy them all which I think is a great idea if you have the money, but who does these days?! For those of us who don’t have the money I say invest in one item that really speaks to you…all of these are pieces you won’t regret having in your closet.
And since the collection is being sold at Macy’s, wait for one of their amazing sales to double up on those promos making this collection even more affordable. Thank you ladies for your collaboration, I couldn’t be more pleased!

First, I love your site. I stumbled upon it about a month ago and I wake up every morning anxious to read my CheapChicas email!
I’ve already had GREAT success with a couple of purchases suggested on the site. Lately I’ve been seeing capes everywhere (runways, magazines, blogs) and I’ve fallen in love. BUT I haven’t found any good, affordable ones yet….I love this Burberry one! Please help me find something similar.
I am so glad to hear that you’ve had success with so many of our past picks and you’re so right, capes are everywhere!
Capes have been seen on runways for the past couple of years but this season they have really taken off! Great for fall, they are a very chic outerwear option.
The Burberry cape you spotted is chic and fashion forward…we all know that Burberry is the epitome of classic British sportswear and their coats/capes rarely go out of style. However, the cape has a price tag of $995 which is not only totally unrealistic for all of us, but it’s also not worth spending that kind of money on an item that might be a passing trend.
One of my favorite fashionable stores from across the pond is ASOS…they have great frugal finds and they are always on trend. Case in point, this cape for $117.95 is very similar the Burberry one but for a fraction of the price. The color, buttons and shoulder details are almost identical!
If you want to browse more options, I have included a few favorite affordable capes to aid you in your search!

Lux, Lux, Lux….Faux, Faux, Faux!!! Some people might think that these two words don’t belong in the same sentence, but I say bring on the Luxurious Faux Fur!
Thanks to stores like H&M and Forever 21, fashion has become more accessible to anyone who wants it so those of us without celebrity paychecks or six figure salaries can still dress in the top trends of the season without maxing out out credit cards!
Considering that I fall into the less than loaded category of consumer, you can imagine my pure joy last Fall when H&M came out with their affordable Faux Furs. At the time, I wanted it all but I wasn’t sure if I was ready to go all out in fur, so I stuck with a few small accessory pieces.
But after seeing Karl Lagerfeld cover the Chanel models in head to toe faux fur I think I’m ready for more and the fur vest is the perfect addition to anyone’s wardrobe!
Thankfully, a faux fur vest is not as intense as a full fur coat so you’ll be able to wear the fur trend without feeling like you’re overdoing it. Try the vest with a floral print blouse and a pair of wide legged jeans for a 70’s inspired vibe or you can go glam and pair your vest with a mini dress and heels for a night out…and if you’re worried about getting lost under your new furry friend, you can also throw a belt around the vest to give it a little shape!

So while everyone is away at Fashion Week in NYC reporting on the trends you’ll be wearing in Spring 2011, I thought I would focus on the clothes you can wear now!
Shopping for Fall is one of the things I look forward to most. I gather up all my monthly glossies and make piles of the things that I want for the season…now I don’t actually buy the items in the ads or the features (I’m not a billionaire!!) but they do serve as important inspiration for ID’ing what I really want at the start of the best shopping season.
This year in particular there are some amazing trends out there, but I’ve narrowed it down to the ones that I’m totally obsessing over to help focus your shopping list. Here they are [click to continue...]

I went shopping the other day, and I felt a little sad because the stores are treating their racks as if Thanksgiving is just around the corner!
I mean, I get it, but keep in mind- it’s still summer, people! We still have a good month of warm weather left ahead of us, so let’s not rush away the most wonderful time of the year (of course, that’s only my opinion).
The weather is warm, but it’s not too hot, and you can really experiment with your wardrobe and mix the season’s different trends in order to make it your own. Gingham was such a popular pattern for the spring and summer, and it’s really simple to bring this great look into the fall.
Personally, I’m still obsessed with gingham button downs, and every single store from the GAP, to J. Crew, to Forever 21 are continuing to carry them through the next season–this is def. one of my favorite styles!
Right now, while the weather is still warm and sunny, you can wear your gingham with shorts, and once the temperatures begin to drop, it’s always nice to be able to throw it under a great cardigan, or just wear it with your favorite pair of jeans (try grey ones!). Since the look is a little bit “country” try mixing it with tan and chocolate accessories–especially boots!

Forever 21 Mesh Knit Top, $15.80
Click it/ Skip it: CLICK IT!! There are 3 things that I love about this sweater. First is the color. Military inspired clothing is everywhere right now – and this top is an olive color that is right on trend.
Second is the fit. You can’t get me into anything body hugging right now – I’m all about the loose dolman fitting tops! They are so comfy and cool, especially in this HOT weather!
The third reason I love this top is the mesh. I’m currently obsessed with anything mesh, crochet, or sheer.
Fit: My favorite thing about a great deal like this is that this sweater doesn’t look or feel like it’s only $15.80. It’s super soft and the finished hem and folded sleeves add a quality feel to this Forever 21 steal.
I purchased a size up, medium, because like I said before, I’m totally digging the super loose look right now. I also like the scoop neck, which occasionally slips off my shoulder – a perfect casual look.
Shopper’s Notes: I’ve been wearing mine with skinny jeans and my favorite pair of tan heels, but I’m really loving the camel shorts combo above too! And thinking ahead..I’m also envisioning wearing this through the fall with some leather leggings…
For $15.80 – it’s a 100% click it. I just wish they had more colors, because I’d buy them all!

These are hands down one of my favorite pairs of boots that have come out in the past few seasons!
What many don’t realize is that the Steve Madden Roady (pictured here as the “look”) is actually a knock-off of a Charles David boot…which I own. I splurged on it last Fall because it’s the kind of boot that makes everything look totally bad-ass and they were so comfortable I couldn’t imagine leaving the store without them!
My pair is a perfectly worn-in gray color with a red zipper up the back and that’s kind of the reason I was attracted to them in the first place! The zipper detail is oh-so cool and adds a fun touch of unexpected color!
Steve Madden did a great job of replicating this style, but at $199 it’s still really expensive for a knock-off. Luckily, enough time has passed and other retailers have figured out how freakin’ cool this boot is and issued their own more budget friendly versions.
First example, this pair from Charlotte Russe for only $20…and NO, that’s not a typo. TWENTY DOLLARS! The only have them in a size 6 so if you have tiny feet, consider yourself lucky because these are the deal of the century.
And if you’re feeling sad, don’t! Target has an almost identical pair (pictured right) for only $34.99 in tan and black! Better yet, they have a full size run in both colors!! Get these now…I lived in them last Fall!

Ask any of my friends what my favorite accessory is and they will practically shout “BELTS”!! I love, love, love belts.
My favorite right now is a thin, braided belt, which came with a dress I had purchased from Forever 21. It’s the perfect length and color – tan – which goes with everything! I’ve been buckling it and then looping the tail of the belt through and letting it hang.
Liz of Late Afternoon perfects her knotted belt look with a vintage leopard dress and sandals..which is super easy to do… or you can also try something a little more classic, like a knotted belt with a boyfriend button up and a pair of shorts, for a casual daytime look.
The width of the belt can vary and I’m all about working with what you own, but if you’re going to shop for one, I prefer a skinny belt! I found this belt at online at Delia’s for only, $20 bucks or this western-style belt from Lulu’s for $11 also does the trick!

Just in time for the Fall, we’ve added another amazing contributor to the site…Meghan Kelleher! She works at ELLE Magazine so it’s safe to say that this stylish young lady knows a thing or two about fashion. Her weekly “Crave & Save” posts will feature all of the latest must-haves right out of the pages of those glossy monthlies…at a price point for everyone!
As the weather begins to cool down, I’ve noticed that you can’t walk by any storefront window without seeing the new chic, trend for the feet: the oxford shoe.
Due to the fact that I’m only 5’3”, I was so excited to see the new twist on last year’s oxford trend: the oxford bootie. What’s great about a lace-up bootie in the cooler months is that it’s functional.
When I shop, I like to look at pieces that are all over the spectrum- highs and lows. For example, I love this Ralph Lauren Collection bootie, but it may make more sense for me to go with the J. Crew bootie, priced at $275–I know I’ll wear these shoes a lot, but definitely not $1,000 worth!

If you feel as though you aren’t ready to spend that kind of money on a trend, or if you think you’ll only wear them a few times, you can go with this peep-toe pair from Seychelles for $56 or a great pair from Nine West. The possibilities are endless!
