Windowpane normally doesn’t strike us as the trendiest of patterns. At its core, the simplistic design reminds us of workwear or pajamas – in other words, it’s not a pattern we would associate with the most glamorous of occassions.
That being said, everywhere we go lately the windowpane pattern seems to be staring us in the face. We found these on-trend overalls at Topshop, this darling checkered top from Zara (just under $50!), and our beloved Kate Spade Saturday has a whole line of windowpane-patterned products – we’re particularly in love with perfect spring skirt. Whether you go monochrome and pair your windowpane with black, shake things up by wearing it with another print, or adding a bright color pop to go with your black and white, we think you’ll be pleased to find how versatile this trend is.
So, how will you wear your windowpane?

I haven’t been this excited about a backpack since, well, the first day of second grade! But, girls, backpacks are back… wayyyy back. It’s a magical thing when fashion and practicality meet, and this just happens to be one of those trends.
I may have to hang up my daytime go-to leather bags for a backpack this summer. But, let’s be honest, I’m not willing to spend upwards of $400 on a trendy backpack like this navy striped one form Tory Burch.
Cute as the Tory one may be, we found plenty of options for under $50 that are just as cute! For example, this “boho meets chic” pack from Urban Outfitters is super similar to Mary Kate Olsen’s one (pictured above) and for under $100! I’m also loving this even cheaper ($25!!!) version from ASOS.com.
Victoria’s Secret.com also has an entire line of backpacks. Mint with studs, bright florals, retro palm trees, fringe, and even more Aztec prints For around $40 you can get a stylish backpack that will suit all of your beach going, farmer’s market, yoga classing, chillaxing-day needs. And if you want to make your backpack a little more sophisticated, try a faux leather one or a quilted canvas like this one from F21.
A backpack is a great way to update your casual off-duty look. This trend is so fresh, that more of our favorite budget friendly shops are sure to be coming out with tons of options for the Summer. So, keep an eye out for one that will suit your needs and take you back to cool!

To be the proud owner of this beautifully tribal print jacket from Zara has been a dream come true. Slightly edgy and cool but overflowing in the classy- sophistication department, the styling possibilities are endless. But what is it about this item, compared to all the other tribal inspired pieces I have seen this season that makes it worth the spend…well, simply put, it’s subtle, not overwhelming. I love a print, but something about tribal always puts me on the fence…which is why I love the fresh and current feel of this season’s more subdued and professional tribal pieces.
These black (also available in brown and white) skinny jeans from F21 for only $27 have a similar laid-back tribal vibe as my beloved blazer. Granted, the jeans are a bit louder, but when paired with a white t-shirt and a crisp blazer, they mean business. Or this skirt, (again F21), is very on trend but still so office-appropriate for under $20!
The key to subtle tribal is versatility. Can the printed piece only be worn to a festival, a beach or a pool party or is there more usage there? If there’s more and sometimes that takes a little creative styling, then I say buy it! And if you still think this whole trend is just a little too loud, an easy way to incorporate tribal prints is through accessories. This statement bag from TopShop is clean and structured, yet the print and colors make it so lively and fun.
So when shopping for this season’s tribal trend, hone in on the more subtle pieces to give your wardrobe an unexpected update!
