Look for Less: Kate Moss

by cheapchica11 on May 2, 2012

Kate Moss does it again!

Her combination of ankle crop pants and pointed toe shoes is pretty damn close to my own laid-back personal style, so naturally, I needed to find a budget friendly alternative to this outfit.

This outfit gives you a perfect dress by numbers guide on how you can pair Spring’s super popular pastels, with an all black palette.

This pair of pants from Forever21, are so similar to ones pictured on Kate, and they’re under $25. I love the crisp Spring feel of the cuffed linen pant…helps make them feel fresh and stylish, without looking too trendy! To make her style your own (for a budget-friendly price) check out these similar selections!

Sponsored Post: Local Trends Miami II

by cheapchica11 on April 2, 2012

With so many of us heading out for Spring Break or a little cold weather get-a-way, I thought it would be fun to spotlight the “local trends” in one of my favorite warm weather destination…Miami!

Miami has so much to offer its locals and visitors. From gorgeous beaches to endless shopping, there is something for everyone. When they aren’t in bikinis, Miami-goers are often found wearing vibrant clothing.

Miami temperatures do drop and it frequently rains in the winter. When the chillier weather hits, a fitted top and jeans are popular choices. Try on a pair of Simply Vera Vera Wang Mixed Media Skinny Jeans with a slimming side panel from Kohl’s. To add a bit of shine to the daytime look, wear crystal-accented Simply Vera Vera Wang flats.

No matter the weather, at night it’s all about a form-fitting dress. Pair with Jennifer Lopez Platform High Heels, and make a bold statement with the Simulated Crystal Necklace from Simply Vera Vera Wang

This look is perfect for dinner at one of Miami’s finest restaurants. Bikini aside, nothing is more essential in Miami than a little white dress.  This Embellished Lace Dress from Ronni Nicole can easily transition your look from day to night.

When it comes down to it, the best thing about Miami is Lincoln Road. It’s one of the nicest roads to stroll along and the shops are always open late. This Corey P Floral Pleated Dress is the perfect day-to-night ensemble…and to finish the look, accessorize with a white Apt. 9® Theresa Shopper handbag and nude pumps.

To add a bit of shine to your daytime look, opt for a bold statement Simulated Crystal Necklace from Simply Vera Vera Wang.

No matter the weather, at night it’s all about a form-fitting dress. Try pairing this Chaps Solid Pintuck dress with a Leopard Woven Straw Clutch.

During a warm day, there’s nothing quite like relaxing at the pool or beach! A Leaf Chiffon Caftan Dress from Jennifer Lopez is perfect for Miami because it’s vibrant and easy to throw on over a wet bikini.

Minty Fresh

by cheapchica11 on February 16, 2012

I’m such a girly girl at heart so when I started to see certain colors trending for Spring I got really really excited!

This season brights take a backseat to softer palettes and the one color ruling that palette is mint.  This super soft shade can come in many forms-from pistachio inspired hues to barely there green, but no matter which version of the hue you prefer it’s the one color you have to add to your wardrobe.

I just found plenty of mint items at H&M and most are priced under $50 (which BTW is the maximum you should be spending on a trendy color like this one).

I plan on wearing my mint now with camel and grey but as soon as the weather gets above 60 degrees I’m going to go all out pastel and wear it with white, pale pinks and lavenders for a layered look. I might even do a little mint on mint after seeing this pic…

I love the black sandal with this as I think the look needs somewhat of an “anchor” to pull it off…you could also do a poppy color like hot pink or cobalt blue to give it more of an unexpected edge!

After season after season of brights, it’s nice to see a new set of colors emerge…and let’s be honest, it gives me a new reason to shop since I definitely don’t own much in this shade. Will you be mint-ing this Spring?

Travel All-Stars: Fashion

by cheapchica11 on January 10, 2012

There’s a few things I absolutely LOVE about traveling…seeing new places, meeting new people, eating new foods and sharing all of that with my wonderful travel partner-in-crime, my hubby! But one of the things I hate is being away from all of my stuff. I have a horrible problem of over-packing in both the beauty and fashion departments so on this trip, I decided to pay particular attention to the items that kept making repeat appearances throughout my 12 day journey. Here are my fashion/accessory all-stars that I could not have made it without…

J.Crew Keeper Chambray Shirt, $78

Rebecca Minkoff Mini-Mac, $195

Joe’s Jeans (part of The 55 Colors Collection), $158

Mossimo Supply & Co. Ankle Boots, $24.99

YSL Arty Ring, $250

Forever 21 Scarf, $14.80

J.Crew Lula Leopard Flats, $89.99

by cheapchica11 on January 2, 2012

I didn’t want y’all to think I had gone away for good! I’m just on a much needed vacation in Dubai celebrating what is so far an incredible year!

I hope all of you had a wonderful Holiday and that your 2012 is off to an amazing start! Dubai is beautiful and I can’t believe my time here is so close to ending…the only downside, the internet is terribly slow!

But no need to worry, we’ll be back to our regular posting schedule this weekend! Happy New Year!

MNG by MANGO Mission: Hola Barcelona

by cheapchica11 on November 16, 2011

If you’re a regular reader, you know that in October I had the opportunity to join ten other fashion bloggers in Barcelona for a fun filled trip to the MNG by MANGO headquarters.  We spent our days learning more about this amazing brand, sightseeing, eating and we all had the chance to be a part of a fabulous photo shoot.

Here’s a shot of me getting prepped for my photo (btw, I hate having my picture taken!) and if you’re wondering what I’m wearing I went for a winter-chic look in a MNG by MANGO sweater, leggings and boots…love those boots!

But the goal of the day was to get all of us in one glamorous group photo and I think we accomplished that…

I’m so excited to finally share this picture from the shoot and this behind the scenes video…

Mil gracias to the entire MANGO team, jcpenney and the Style Coalition for organizing the MNG by MANGO Mission campaign…it was an amazing opportunity!

Disclosure: This campaign is produced by Style Coalition and sponsored by jcpenney.

Pink and Red and …..Lovely All over?

by Ann Whitbeck on November 3, 2011

This recent look from fashion goddess SJP has gotten very mixed reviews but I have to say, I am loving it! I think it is just the right amount of wrong to make it interesting, you know what I mean?

This is the answer to the SAT question, “What is the opposite of the LBD?” There is something about the bold combo usually reserved for Valentine’s Day that makes it very sophisticated and appealing.

What I love about this outfit is she took a risk with the color and not the cut or style of the pieces. If you go bananas with both style and color, than yes, it’s too much wrong to ever be right! But the easy, clean texture and cut of both the blouse and the pants gives you the laid back kind of vibe.

I have found some great budget friendly options in both of these colors, but with a slightly more doable twist…try wearing these hot pink shoes with a red pant…or why not try a pink dress with a red blazer?

J.Crew along with many other stores have an amazing color palette this Fall, allowing you to create your own fab color combo or stick with the bold pink and red. Remember, if you don’t want to go bold and mix, you can have fun with just one color and kick any outfit up a notch.

by cheapchica11 on November 2, 2011

As someone who spends 80% of their free time online, it’s always nice to find a site that not only simplifies my life, but that makes my job so easy…

I came across Beso.com a while ago and now it’s one of my first stops whenever I’m looking for anything online. The site pulls in products from thousands of the best e-commerce sites out there, so that you can shop your favorite brands and stores all in one place.

No more skipping around trying to manage twenty windows at one time! With one simple search you can have the internet’s finest at your fingertips…whether you’re looking for home, beauty, fashion or sale items!

But perhaps my favorite part of the site are the people behind it. The Beso.com team (led by EIC Elise Loehnen, formerly of Lucky Magazine) has an sharp eye for style and their daily features are a can’t miss, beautifully curated selection of products you want to know about!

And this month I want to share everything I love about Beso.com with you, so we’ve teamed up and I will be guest editing my favorite picks all month long! First up, my 10 Favorite Holiday Gifts for Under $100…check them out here!

Oh and don’t forget to create a profile while you’re on the site. It’s an easy way to save your favorites and keep them organized all in one place…just click the little pink heart attached to every product…but be careful, it’s addicting! And BTW, those favorites will come in very handy mid-month…we have an AMAZING giveaway coming up so stay tuned!
