My Mountain Conquest

by cheapchica11 on February 27, 2013

If you follow me on Instagram (@lillianavazquez) and if you don’t you should, you know that I just got back from an amazing vacation to Jackson Hole. Now I’m not the most outdoorsy of girls so when this trip came up I knew I had to equip myself with “gear” (my hubby’s word, not mine) that would look as good on the mountain as off.  That means fashion first and foremost, but also a whole lot of function which is how I found my Conquest Carly boots! These boots not only look good, they keep my feet warm and dry, otherwise known as “happy feet” when the temperatures drop to -15 in the morning.

When I was looking to buy these babies the tall version (pictured here) was over $200 and while I have no objections to spending money on functional boots that will last you at least 10+ years, it was still OOTB (out of the budget) so I settled for the shorter Carly’s which totally served the same purpose and were more affordable.

Many of you asked me about cold weather style during my trip so I had to share my most essential buy of the season and now that it’s nearing the end of winter (thankfully!) the tall Carly’s are on sale for $164 – a price that’s totally worth it!

And because we’re talking conquests here, I also have to share my personal conquest…snowboarding! I just started to learn and while the process has been painful (I told my friends I got “beat up by the mountain” after a long day on very steep terrain) it’s also been one of the most fun things I’ve ever done.

If you’ve never tried it before and are on the fence, please make the jump…as long as you have a great instructor (Kirsten you’re the best!), a beautiful mountain and the right gear (email me if you want to know the best board-wear) you’ll fall in love like I did.  I’m already looking forward to my next ride! And you can see me “shredding” on a gorgeous day in JH if you click here

Hi Lilliana!

I also purchased a pair of the Conquest Carly short boots this winter and love them. They are great because I can wear them on cooler days in Vegas without looking like I am about to head to the snow. I attribute that to the lack of excessive rubber and faux fur.

Another brand worth checking out is Merrell. I own the Captiva Launch waterproof boots and love them. They work great on smaller calves and are so comfortable.

Glad you enjoyed your time at Jackson Hole…looks amazing!

Oh Lilliana,
I am SO proud of you! Look at you shredding…. And, thank you for the shout-out, a little proud mama heart-swell over here.

P.S. I don’t know how I made it out here so long without my Sorels. The Tofino’s, super cute and essential in our winter wonderland!

Winter boots are a must! I hate when my toes are cold! I got some really cute Columbia boots at http://www.RogansShoes.com. No cold toes!
