Look for Less: Dolce and Gabbana Glam

by Ann Whitbeck on November 9, 2012

Mama Mia! Dolce and Gabanna’s Fall/Winter runways were packed with opulent, baroque prints and antique needlepoint patterns. But, as I sat in awe watching the models (on my computer screen!!) walk down the runway in these amazing pieces I couldn’t help but think “I’m in love with this look, but how can this translate to my wardrboe?”…

Well, I found this answer– in the form of this little number from TopShop. It has everything the original has  (opulent, needlepoint detail, mixed prints and a very modest cut) without the price.  For $72 I could get in on the Dolce runway look without looking like a total fashion victim.

With this kind of dress, the styling is everything. One wrong step and you could look like the newest cast member of The Jersey Shore! In fact, this dress really needs no styling, it is the statement so minimal accessories and sleek shoes are your best friends. Ditto for hair and make up.

This dress is definitely a one-of-a-kind show stopper that will be the unsuspected hero in your closet….another plus? The “Sicilian Folk“ trend was seen on the Spring 2013 runways so this dress will take you well into next year…Ciao!!
