Hi/Lo Skirts. Let’s discuss….you may have heard them called cascade skirts, mullet skirts (eww, that one makes my skin crawl!), asymmetrical, etc. Whatever the name, the look is the same. What do you think?
I’m leaning towards a yes only because they’re flattering, versatile, cute, modern, a little hip, a little edgy…and most of all, fresh! Need I say more??
I’m especially loving the soft pastels these skirts are popping up in, like this mustard yellow one from Forever 21 and the one pictured here from Anthropologie that I just purchased.
This not too short but not too long skirt is sure to be a Spring staple, but before the temps heat up, I plan on wearing mine with a thick, rich cable knit sweater, opaque tights and ankle boots.
When it comes to color, opt for a soft sherbert color…they’re going to be huge this spring! And when its finally warm enough wear them with pretty chiffon tanks or silk blouses.
Take a look at some of these affordable options and let me know how/if you hi/low!

I’m totally loving these skirts! I almost bought one from Zara in grey, but I think I’ll go more for the pastels like you mentioned
I bought one 2 weeks ago in red and I am obsessed. I was worried it would look weird since I am short (5 ft tall) but it looks great! Such a fun change from all the minis I wear, but doesn’t swallow me like a maxi skirt can!
Just scored one identical to the Anthro one in the soft-mint green color from Kohls for $30!
Love the hi-lo skirt, but I think it’s a trend that will sizzled by the fall…ps. I’m loving your site, you post a ton of useful information!

I like the subtle hi-lo look, the ones without the big difference. Maybe i just need time to get use to it. I think this trend will stick for a little while (maybe till next year?) I perfer more of the hi-lo tops than the skirt/dress.
we’ll see if I see it enough I might love it more.
