Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan of celebs taking fashion risks on the red carpet. Unique outfits are much more fun to look at, plus there’s a higher possibility of a complete fashion disaster, which (you know you agree) can be just as entertaining as a knock-your-socks-off hit.
BUT, as a Cheap Chica, sometimes it can get a little frustrating! I’ll love those risky heels, or that one-of-a-kind dress, but there’s simply no way to recreate such a fashion forward outfit at a lower price point.
Which is why I smiled when I saw this outfit Jayma Mays rocked at TV Guide’s Hot List 2010 Party. The look is definitely not a safe bet- its not often you see such a casual button-down paired with an amped up gold sequin skirt and silver strappy sandals.
In my opinion, more glammed up hair or earrings would have made the look more cohesive from top to bottom. But I think it works…she looks sweet and sexy at the same time, preppy but not prissy. Plus I love metallics and a girl whose not afraid to mix her silver and gold is a huge winner in my book!
Plus, here’s the best part- her outfit begs to be recreated! There are tons of button up denim and chambray shirts on the market, and I’ve seen sequin skirts all over the place. The luxury Rene Caovilla shoes she’s wearing look identical to these Aldo ones that are on sale for $27.99… and Aldo is taking another 30% off already reduced merchandise!
Check out these budget friendly items that will help you recreate Jayma’s look for much less!

LOFT had a skirt very similar to this not long ago too. I bought it when it was on super-sale (maybe $10) and have been wondering what to pair it with. The soft blue shirt is a really nice touch.
love this look! Thanks for this post!
She took this outfit right out of J. Crew! http://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/shirtstops/casualshirts/PRDOVR~33286/33286.jsp
