My Hidden Agenda — The CheapChica's Guide to Style

My Hidden Agenda

Picture 1When it comes to make up, especially concealer and foundations, I do tend to splurge.  Not because I think department store make up is better (it’s usually not) but mainly because my skin tends to be really sensitive and breakout most, from these two items.

I’ve been breaking out more than usual lately and my aestheticism said the culprit was my Clinque concealer–so for the last two months I’ve been on a mission to find a new concealer.  I felt like I had tried every brand out there (Bobbi Brown, Laura Mercier, Chanel, etc.) and none really did the trick.  My skin tends to get very red after a breakout and all of these concealers did nothing to help that…they were too light, too thin, to dry/cake-y or just not the right formula.

Then I found this concealer palette from Sonia Kashuk…let me just say, it’s AMAZING!  It has a green-ish color that kills the red, two shades of concealer that can be custom blended to match your skin tone and a powder that sets all of your hard concealing work.  It was only $9.99 and it’s seriously one of the best product in my make up kit!

I’ve been using it for 3 weeks and so far, no breakouts…and I love that it goes on so smooth and blends invisibly into my skin!

I love thus concealer palette! I saw it in the “Deals and Steals” section of a 2009 issue of InStyle– so I tried it out and I’m in love! The greenish tint actually blends red blemishes away surprisingly well, and the white packaging is so cute! Enjoy!

I just recently purchased Benefit’s “Confessions of a concealaholic” and it is amazing! It has six of their top selling concealers in the kit and two brushes to apply. The erase paste is great way to get ride of those under-eye circles. Also, there are two shades of concealer in the kit- Living in Arizona, I get pretty tan in the summer, and pretty fair in the winter. It’s the perfect set to use either or depending on the darkness of my skin. It’s a little pricy, but well worth it.

I had the same problem with Clinique about 8 years ago. I started using Merle Norman. I know it is kind of for older women but I just use the tinted moisturizer and powder. It is a little expensive but it tends to last a long time and I never break out from it. So if the Sonia Kashuk doesn’t work out then maybe you can try Merle Norman.
