Tropical Punch — The CheapChica's Guide to Style

Tropical Punch

Nowadays, come Tuesday night I am firmly planted in front of MTV. I watch The Hills mostly to feel smart and like I have my life together but The City, now that’s a good show.

I shamefully replay episodes On Demand just to get outfit ideas. But, hello, why isn’t Olivia given the boot? I mean seriously, Joe, why?

Well, I think we all know why, the girl has “an eye” for style. She is clearly not afraid to throw any social punches but what I actually love most about her style right now is how she incorporates a tropical punch of nail color with almost any outfit.

The aesthetic of bold tropical colors kind of embodies her style; it is girly without being too girly and sophisticated with a little more playfulness than your average red.

Picture 2The color is not so much new, like the lavender and taupe seen this spring, but that it can be used as a sort of unexpected accessory. The pop of color with an otherwise complete outfit gives this old fashioned color a modern twist.

Honestly, Olivia’s budget must be endless but the nails are one thing about her that is easy to emulate on the cheap!! The first time I wore this Revlon color, Hot Tamale, I seriously didn’t think I would last more than a day with it on. But I love it and it strangely goes with almost anything!!  I have found my summer alternative to dark nails…I am a total convert.

I agree I can’t stand the girl but can’t help but crave her clothes. I read somewhere that she swears by Essie Pouf Daddy red nail polish.

I love the bright summer shades. I’m hoping to find a pretty coral and turqouise color.

Not a fan of Olivia, Whitney called it best on the last episode.

I totally agree! My favorite is Essie Clam Bake, a bright red-orange.

Brianna-You’d probably like OPI’s Monsooner Or Later. I just bought it, and it’s a beautiful deep coral. It goes best with navy blue I’ve discovered.

i love the bright nails, do you think being super pale i should do a lighter color and not so bold? but on to more important things, olivia. she ALWAYS says she is not going to “discuss this any further” my question is does she EVER finish a conversation? she drives me batty! i am not usually like this but if i saw her on the street i would want to have words with her! (p.s. last season she wore a dress i have and i was totally patting myself on the back for a good style choice, but that doesn’t mean i have to like the girl!)
