Deal of the Week: 1 Dress, 6 Options — The CheapChica's Guide to Style

Deal of the Week: 1 Dress, 6 Options

by cheapchica11 on April 14, 2010

Picture 2A few times a year brands/designers (DKNY, Free People, etc.) come out with this “multiple” concept–a dress, shirt, sweater that you can style in various ways…and up until now, I’ve never been quite sold on the concept.

In the past, my problem with this type of style is that while it could be re-worked into several different configurations, I usually only liked one or two–but with this version, I’m actually liking most of the options and I’m loving the way it’s styled in this photo!! BEYOND cute!!

This dress from Victoria’s Secret can be worn six ways and it comes in eight colors so you’re sure to find one that suits your mood…and it’s currently on sale for $49 so that’s like paying $8/dress…sounds like a good deal to me!

PS: If you have a vacation coming up, this dress is the perfect thing to pack- it doesn’t wrinkle and it can go from day to night just by adding the right accessories!

Okay, surprisingly I can one-up you. I’m not sure if you’ve seen the Norma Kamali dress at … wait for it… Walmart. I bought it because, well, it was $25 and I figured i was worth a shot. It’s. Super.Cute. Long sleeved (or strapless, or halter, bla bla), I wore it off-the-shoulder, with a belt out in Chicago this last winter and had TONS of people approach me. At one point in the night I was getting really warm and just went into the bathroom and turned it into a strapless dress. I’ve worn it to work, I’m taking it to the Bahamas with me next month… it’s fabulous.

I retract what I said – I just went and checked out the VS dress – and then bought it.

American Apparel has a dress like that too! Even slightly cheaper than the Victoria’s Secret version, $43 for the full skirted one, and $41 for the pencil skirt. I bought the full skirted one a year ago and love it.

Cute, but american apparel has had this same dress in a bunch of colors for at least 4-5 years… and a pencil version in the last few years too. I suppose their website is a good place to go for more styling ideas!

I actually just checked out the Norma Kamali on the Walmart site and it does look pretty classy! I also really like the Le Sac convertible at American Apparel ($38).
