The Hair Guide: The Fedora

by cheapchica11 on January 24, 2010

Spillane Straw FedoraI am all about “easy breezy” hairstyles…quick fixes on those days when you wake up to a crazy afro, or worse…hair that is limp and lifeless.

We saw a comeback of the fedora last year, when it could be found in every other store and girls and guys alike were going crazy for it. I never had a chance to participate in the trend, so I was thrilled when I found out that the fedora is back this year and better than ever!

No wonder women in the 1920’s went crazy for this chic piece. It is a perfect add-on to any outfit! The benefits are endless. One, it looks great on any shaped face. Two, it is the perfect hair accessory. Three, you can’t beat the affordable price. And four, it can cure any bad hair faux pas! What more could a girl ask for?

I have been completely obsessed with the straw fedora. Urban Outfitters carries a number of different styles and colors that are just fabulous! Not only is it lightweight and comfortable but it’s versatile between outfits and seasons. I was just in NY and saw girls pairing the piece with scarves and sweaters…absolutely chic!

Hi there! Quick question for you. Can someone with short hair can rock a nice fedora as well? My hair is very short but I sure would like to rock some fedora’s this spring/summer 2010 but I am afraid it wont look right on me. My hair looks almost like Rihianna (cover of W magazine this month)!

You can definitely rock the Fedora! Sienna Miller is proof of this. I would just make sure you have some hair showing , whether it be in the back or front. Google image “Sienna Miller, Fedora” and you can see how chic and stylish the Fedora looks on her short locks!

Thank you so much for your help. Now I am ready for spring so I can rock some of the ones I have. For sure I will be sending you some pics :)

I just found a straw fedora for $2.50 at Target (Gotta live the dollar spot!) They have both pink and black ribbon versions. I think it’s great if you’re not ready to commit to a more expensive version!
