The Touch, The Feel of Velvet

Models parading down the catwalk in Marc Jacobs Fall 2009 collection showed the world a fabric we have really not accepted into our closets in quite sometime.

If you aren’t ready to fully accept velvet into your lives, I would start with accessories.  Forever 21 has a cute velvet spotted bangle for $6.80 or try a simple wide velvet belt from Newport-News.com for only $9.99.

Once you warm up to the idea of velvet, I would lean more towards a garment with velvet accents instead of a full on velvet dress/shirt or God forbid…velvet pants (BTW, velvet leggings are totally acceptable…see below)!  This way you capture the essence of the trend without going totally overboard.

Take this fabulous Twelve by Twelve tunic with velvet trimmed ruffles for example! It’s a perfect LBD, it’s right on trend for the Fall and at the end of the day, you never can have too many black dresses…especially one inspired by our dear Marc!
